Israel Adesanya tasted sweet revenge at UFC 287 on April 08 when he stopped UFC middleweight champ Alex Pereira and reclaimed his middleweight belt. Adesanya KO’d Pereira in the second round to prove his doubters wrong and show that he is indeed the best middleweight in the UFC right now!
Next Potential Fight For Adesanya
The number one contender in each weightclass is usually the one who gets the next title shot. However, Adesanya has beaten the current ranked top 5 fighters in the middleweight division and hence the MMA community is divided on who Adesanya should fight next!
Former UFC heavyweight champ and commentator Daniel Cormier believes that Adesanya should fight Pereira next as they are currently 1-1 in the UFC. However, Adesanya has shot that down saying he has no intention of fighting Pereira three consecutive times and wants Pereira to earn the rematch.
Many MMA fans think that his next opponent should be the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev who has already called out Adesanya for a title fight but Chimaev has only had one fight at middleweight so far as all of his other fights have been at welterweight.
The other name in the mix is the 6th ranked South African fighter Dricus Du Plessis but he will likely need to get one more win before he can push for a title fight. We will have to wait and see who the UFC picks for Adesanya next!
