Carla Esparza, the former UFC strawweight champion has no plans to regain her belt in 2023 after losing it to Weili Zhang in November 2022. Esparza has been out of action since then and there have been no reports of a potential match in the works!
Esparza Announces Pregnancy And Potential Return
Esparza ended up winning her second UFC championship after going on a 5 fight win streak. She defeated champ Rose Namajunas at UFC 274 by split decision and would go on to get married a week later! She had a disappointing loss to Weili Zhang but put it behind her quickly to start a family and take a break from the Octagon.
Carla Esparza took to social media recently to give her fans an update on what was going on in her world. The former champ told fans that she was pregnant and decided to keep it secret for the last 14 weeks. She is expected to give birth in September 2022 and will be out of action for the rest of the year.
Carla Esparza a.k.a Cookie Monster did not reveal the sex of her baby and only said they expect baby Cookie Monster to make an appearance in September. Esparza isn’t planning on retiring though as she did promise her fans that she would return to the Octagon during mid-2024.
