Australia are set to face India in India in a four match Border-Gavaskar test series. The first test will run from Feb 9 to 13 in Nagpur and Australia will be under the pump from ball one as India have prepared a rank turner for their spinners.
Tougher Challenge Than The Ashes
The Australia-England Ashes rivalry is the oldest rivalry in test cricket but both Steve Smith and David Warner have admitted that the toughest challenge in test cricket for the Australian team is bating India in India.
Australia has won just one test match in their last 4 tours to India and have won just one test series in the last 54 years against India in India, and that was back in 2004. Australia have always struggled to do well against India’s spinners who are relentless on dry wickets that offer both spin and bounce.
Australia will have their work cut out in the first test as some of their key players will miss out. Fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood will miss the first test while all-rounder Cameron Green’s selection is also under a cloud due to his fitness.
