There is great news for veterans looking to compete in this summer’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) – poker pros Angela Jordison and Jacki Burkhart will be giving away free packages to those who have served the military, similar to what they did during the 2019 WSOP.
Nine Vets to Receive WSOP Packages
In their latest update, the duo said they will send nine veterans to the $500 Salute to Warriors tournament which will run as part of the 2023 WSOP at Horseshoe Las Vegas.
A package was earlier offered to Ryan Mitchell, a veteran from Waterloo, Iowa who happened to play against Jordison at the Mid-State Poker Tour stop at Riverside Casino.
More Packages Could be Awarded
The package will cover the tournament buy-in, airfare, and four nights’ hotel accommodation, as confirmed by Jordison in a recent tweet. The campaign has seen massive support since it was announced last week and so the pair also set up a Go Fund Me fundraising drive to send more veterans to the WSOP.
Any additional donations received ahead of the tournament will be used to award last-minute seats to veterans who are already in Las Vegas, Jordison said in her latest tweet. Jordison and Burkhart ran a similar campaign four years ago where they awarded packages to three veterans.
