England had a lacklustre performance against Australia in Australia during their last Ashes battle and went down 4-0. England gets a chance to reclaim the Ashes in 2023 as they take on Australia at home.
England Will Rely On Raw Pace
The 2023 Ashes will comprise of 5 test matches that take place between 16 June to 31 July. Australia will face a completely different England test side as the Poms have transformed the way they play test cricket ever since Ben Stokes took over the captaincy from Joe Root.
Stokes teamed up with new head coach Brendon McCullum to play a brand of aggressive test cricket that has allowed England to win 10 out of their last 12 test matches. England also have the record of scoring 4.76 runs per over in test cricket during this period, which is a higher net run rate per over than any of the other 11 test playing countries.
Ben Stokes told media that he has asked for all 5 Ashes pitches to be flat and fast paced as the plan is to bombard Australia with 90 mph deliveries from the likes of Mark Wood, Olly Stone and Jofra Archer.
